Sports Rules
Add basic rules for various sports.♦ Examples
♦ A _ game is divided up into X Quarters/periods/innings
♦ A _ game lasts X minutes
Math
♦ Add ideas for alternative methods of doing arithmetic; I will try to get more info on this-I have heard of methods will do not involve multi-tasking to the same degree as the methods traditionally taught in the US.
Trig Functions
| Question (memorize) | Answer (memorize) |
|---|---|
| tan(X) | sin(X)/cos(X) |
| cot(X) | 1/tan(X) |
| sec(X) | 1/cos(X) |
| csc(X) | 1/sin(X) |
Linking - site improvement suggestion
Allow wiki linking inside flashcards. The motivation for this is allowing flashcard sets to be related in more complected ways, such as a hierarchy.
♦ Examples
♦ Organism classification - Kingdom, Phylum, Order, ...
Use the power of linking to bring flashcards new life.
Dynamic Card Sets - site improvement suggestion
Allow users to select cards across many pages and review them all at once.Conceptually, I may have a test on US History from 1812 - 1820. The topics in this range are not necessarily related as far as everyone else is concerned, but it useful to me to be able to temporarily combine them into one session.
Ideally, this would have a "add to shopping cart" interface. In this analogy, "Check out" would allow me to review my cards, and optionally share them with others (my classmates would benefit from my collection).
The sharing mechanism may need some form of filtering to avoid flooding the rest of the site with customized (and rarely shared) sets. Authentication may help.
I recognize that this may require some user management/interaction features that may be beyond the scope of a normal wiki, but the power of this form of sharing is tremendous.
Engineering
| Question (memorize) | Answer (memorize) |
|---|---|
| Electrical | Analysis and design of electrical systems |
| Mechanical | Analysis and design of mechanical systems |
Electrical Engineering subjects
| Question (memorize) | Answer (memorize) |
|---|---|
| Signals and Systems | Analog and Digital Communications from a transform point-of-view. |
| Electromagnetic Engineering | Analysis and design of electromagnetic wave signals and systems. |
The Four Loves
| Question (memorize) | Answer (memorize) |
|---|---|
| Agape | Love through the will (regardless of emotion), unconditional love-- intellectual |
| Philos | Love through friendship -- intellectual, emotional |
| Storgae | Love of family (can't live with 'em, can't live w/o 'em =P), time-bound love -- intellectual, physical |
| Eros | Love through romance, sexual love -- emotional, physical |
Books of the Bible (not necessarily historical order)
Old Testament| Question (memorize) | Answer (memorize) |
|---|---|
| The Torah (which means "Five") | Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy |
| The Historical | (needs editing) |
| The Poetic | Song of Songs |
| The Prophets | (needs editing) |
| Question (memorize) | Answer (memorize) |
|---|---|
| The Gospels | Matthew, Mark, Luke, John |
| The Epistles (religious letters) of Paul | (needs editing) |
| The Epistles of the other apostles | (needs editing) |
| The Apocalyptic | Revelations |
Dynamic Tables - site improvement suggestion
It would be great if users could dynamically pick only two or three of the usual 5 or 6 items in each table to memorize at a time and then incrementally increase by one more item. Some items are very difficult to memorize as 5 or 6 item sets. i.e. GuitarLanguage 'course'
♦ There should be an extensive language 'course', involving tenses, parts of sentences: infinitives, past perfects, etc.
More than 2 columns in tables - suggestion
With the ability to have multiple columns in each table, various controls to keep one in the table constant or hidden when checked. Example:Jazz Theory
Then, check one column as constant, one as Question, one as Answer, and one as hidden
| Key (memorize) | scale degree (memorize) | Keys played (memorize) | Name of Chord (memorize) |
|---|---|---|---|
| C(kept as constant) | vi | ![]() ![]() ![]() | A Minor 7th |
| C | vii | ![]() ![]() ![]() | B Half-Diminished 7th |
This way, it is possible to get many different types of tests on one wiki post, instead of tediously remaking similar tests. One question often has multiple answers.
Another way it could be used:
| Language (memorize) | Country (memorize) | Capital (memorize) |
|---|
In this example, Language would be checked as a constant - Spanish This will filter out answers to those wanted.
| Language (memorize) | Country (memorize) | Capital (memorize) |
|---|---|---|
| Spanish | Spain | Madrid |
| Spanish | Mexico | Mexico City |
| Spanish | Belize | Belmopan |
Another way to do this would maybe be to have the Question and Answer Headings in each column to have a pull down menu to select something. One could click Answer and pull down 'by keys' or 'by name', etc.
Also, adding pictures would be a nice feature and useful for diagrams and stuff like that
